Meet The Tutors
Caro Marrow - Guitar
Caro Marrow is co-founder and guitar tutor of GRSE. She and Fiona set up the organisation in 2014, along with Claire Campbell of Sally Skull. Caro has played in bands such as Miaoumix, Suffrajitsu and currently Filthy Haars. When not playing guitar she can be found at her allotment or fixing up her bike. Despite the photo she does not actually play the keytar!
Fiona Watt - Vocals
Fiona is co-founder and Treasurer of GRSE, and currently an alto-tenor in Love Music Community Choir, Songworks Choir, Wildfire Women's Choir, and Rhubaba Choir, and runs The Megaphone Choir from her kitchen, to the annoyance of her tenement neighbours. She was previously lead vocalist of post-punk band Vatican Shotgun Scare and is an occasional bassist in The Sunday Assembly Band. Her influences include Patti Smith, Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett, and Kathleen Hanna. In the few hours a week she's not singing somewhere, she can be found swimming in the sea at Porty with seaweed in her hair pretending to be a mermaid.
Laura van Detta - Bass
Laura is Secretary of GRSE and has been involved in the performing arts for longer than she's prepared to admit. After a roundabout musical route involving singing, piano, violin, trumpet and marching drums, she discovered her true vocation in the electric bass. She's currently reliving her mis-spent youth in an 80s covers band as well as singing and playing bass in GRSE band The Heave, along with a bit of songwriting. Outside music, her interests include historic reconstruction modelling and she can often be seen prowling round the Old Town with a map and tape measure while dodging the tourists.
Chloe Brain - Drums
Chloe is a GRS graduate of the drum class back in 2017 and now plays with The Farting Suffragettes. When they are not playing in the band they can be found mixing vinyl, growing veg, surfing and playing queer footie. Chloe’s musical interests range from jazz to jungle and everything in-between and you can always find them on the dance floor!
Nikki aka 'Foxxy Dj' is a graduate of GRS drumming class, after having only two lessons she went on to get a kit of her own, she then formed the band 'The Unrepentants' for the end of term showcase with fellow graduates Sam and Sonja. After this Nikki then moved on to her current band 'Fistymuffs'. Alongside this Nikki's main passion is DJing and can be found playing regular nights at The Leith Depot and other venues around Edinburgh that will let her play all that deep house music she holds dear!

Claire Frost - Drums
Claire Frost graduated from GRSE in Spring 2016 and has been a drum tutor since Autumn 2016. Claire has played in bands such as Agony Ant, Dr Srrrz, LadyDog, and currently The Heave. Away from the kit Claire can be found riding bikes and boards, tree spotting, playing queer footie, and corresponding with the council.
