About the event

Girls Rock School Edinburgh presents a DIY event managment workshop run by Fistymuffs front woman Patty Vea for female identifying women, trans women and non-binary people only.

A long-time independent music promoter and professional event’s organiser for Scottish art’s organisation the Saltire Society, Patty has been involved with the music industry for over 7 years and holds a BA Honours in Music Business. As well as setting up many independent music-based events in the past, Patty has run Revolution Girl Style Now, a monthly band night for female identifying, non-binary and gender queer performers as well as co-founding DAREFest, a one day festival designed to empower all women to take on the Scottish music scene.

By the end of this workshop you will have learned how to organise, run, promote and market an event, including how to:

  • Prepare and implement an event plan
  • Write a press release
  • Make the most of a minuscule budget
  • Create and carry out a promotional strategy
  • Devise and stick to timelines
  • Collect and manage feedback

BONUS: There will also be doing a small section on self promotion for bands/artists.

This is a free workshop for female identifying women, trans women and non-binary people only. The venue is accessible and you don't have to be GRSE student to attend. Please email girlsrockschool AT gmail to book a place.
